The Pavement.
Wednesday, March 25th, 2009Man, I really need to start updating more often than once a month. You see, I often have work with which to update, but so many plans of things I could be doing that distract me from actually posting any artwork.
Here’s a completely rad drawing for a skateboard deck:
I only wish it were produced on real skateboards, but alas, it exists only on a deck that I mounted it to. Completely rad, but nevertheless pretty useless if you actually want to skateboard with it (espeically if you want to do some sweet grinds).
Two illustrations done previously…

Creepy dude underwater. …thinking.

Illustration for Rob Sheffield’s memoir Love is a Mixtape.
I just realized the last two illustrations have shirtless men in them. Not surprising, but still somewhat a coincidence!
Some news about me!
- I’ve been working on a new layout for SAVE-JANOS.NET, this very blog! I want it to more closely match the shiny new layout for ROXINATION.COM. I consider them sister sites so I’d like them to resemble as such (not to imply that my websites are female, but “brother sites” didn’t really sound right at all). Expect it to be a little cleaner!
- I recently returned from a week-long trip to Berlin, courtesy of Parsons School of Design. Two of my urban toys, including Cosmobot, were included in a Parsons student show, “Ugly is Beautiful,” that is part of this year’s Pictoplasma Conference! Berlin is an amazing city and I hope to have some of the better pictures up on my blog soon–some of the gallery shows in Pictopia were absolutely amazing, and beyond that the graffiti around the city is just really beautifully graphic and character-inspired. If by any chance you happen to be in Berlin you should definitely check it out!
- My work has been selected to be featured in this year’s issue of Curvy, which is an all-women’s illustration and designer anthology from Australia. I unfortunately missed the deadline to submit work for the show (I was going to send them my Australian beefcake!), but I’m excited that in addition to five images, an interview with me will appear in the book. I’m hoping to bring a little manliness to the anthology.
That’s about it for now. I have quite a few sketchbook pages I really need to scan soon!
