THE WOOD BEGAN TO MOVE
Thursday, January 15th, 2009So it’s 2009, and I still haven’t gotten too much done. I’m honestly still a little burnt out from my thesis. However, I did complete another illustration for Mad Atoms, and it’s the first I’m particularly proud of, for whatever reason. It was for an article written about the recent photographs that have surfaced of Prince William’s penis.

However, I must take issue with the author asking the question, “Does anyone actually desire to see any flacid penis?” PENISES: GROSS, RIGHT? Other illustrations I’ve done for Mad Atoms can be seen here.
Moving along, I have done only a few drawings for myself this month, and I feel quite ashamed to say I haven’t done more. But here they are, nontheless:

The inspiration for these came, truthfully, from William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, and the imagery surrounding it that has fascinated me since middle school. This series portrays the faculty (and one student) of Samuel Butler Academy, the fictional reform school for wayward young men that I have portrayed in a lot of my art. I do a great deal of imagery surrounding the savage young students of the institution, but I wanted to demonstrate how sometimes the faculty can exacerbate the chaos and (in one case) succumb to it.
But mostly, I just wanted to have fun with Sharpies and Prismacolor markers. And I liked the idea of neon tribal paint.
